Many choices are possible with our different decors and rocks.

It is important to prepare a design of what you wish (top view, front view) with requirements (columns to hide) and wishes cliffs, overhangs, grottoes, etc).The height of the aquarium is determinant as it is easy to build a stable decor up to 40 or 50 cm, but more difficult in higher tanks, if you do not want your decor to collapse.

Keep in mind that you have to leave free access to the different equipments of the aquarium: pumps, strainers, etc... and to keep a good water circulation under the decor, to avoid sedimentation and cleaning problems.

So, any decor begins with stable and solid bases, leaving space under the decor..

* Our sculptured rocks and our reef system elements have 'feet' that limit the contact with the glass and make water circulation easy.

* In 'our ceramic rocks' range, you will find 'basis sets' (with 1 plate and 3 feet) on which you can install your live rocks.

* For high decors, for example to hide a column, we have the reef system and sculptured rocks, up to 60/65 cm, available on stock. For higher tanks, we make special decors.

The different stages.

Install main basis rocks, structure of the decor.

These decors are ready for use and easy to set up, install circulation pumps. Build up the final decor with some additional rocks (plates, eco reef plates, ceramic rocks) and live rocks.

Example on image: for an aquarium: 70 x 70 cm x Height 60 cm:

On the left 1 sculptured rock ( code 9005)

On the back 1 reef element (code 0954) - height 52 cm - to hide the skimmer.

Hidden behind the 9005, 1 stream rock with stream pump (we produce exclusively for Tunze Aquarientechnik these special stream rocks).

On the right: 1 big 'ceramic rock'.

Surface of contact between the decor and the surface of the aquarium in only 15 % of this surface, which avoids dead water area.

Install the eco reef plates in the cavities.

Install the eco reef plates in the cavities of reef 0954, in the lower positions. Add 1 or 2 ceramic rocks to go on building the decor.

Build a bridge.

Build a bridge with a big eco reef plate, put on the ceramic rock on the right, linked to the rocks previously installed on the reef element.

Central platform

Add a second eco reef plate on the pile on the right, then a plate (code 3517) that links rock (9005 / on the top) with the rear part of the decor.

1 more ceramic rock on the left, to give volume and relief.

Hide skimmer and pumps.

Install eco reef plates in the upper cavities of reef element: when they are covered with corals, you don't see the pumps any more.

A big space is free under the decor, for water circulation; one can see the outlet of pump on the left (stream rock).

Sculptured rocks.

These rocks are sculptures, ready for use in your aquarium.

For bases: rocks with grottoes and ways, reduced surface of footprint. codes 9004-9005-9306-9007-9008.

Most of these rocks have cavities to embed eco reef plates, live rocks or rock code 9044. This system makes it easy to increase the volume of decor, with overhangs, areas for corals...

High shapes are adapted for most standard aquariums: 9516-9526-9536 et 9008.

'Reef system'.

These are specific and technical sculptured rocks, adapted to install live rocks or eco reef plates, (thanks to their specific cavities) and to hide accessories (columns, swamp tanks, skimmers, wave box...)

Columns (0945-0954-0964) and pillars (0838-0848-0858-0868) of our reef system are high and stable.

Heights up to 64/68 cm.

Ceramic rocks and 'base décor' sets.

These sets, made of 3 tripods and of 1 crown plate, are ideal bases for setting up of decors:

Tripods, with a material similar to the ceramic rocks are very stable and are put directly on the glass of the aquarium.

This solid system sets free the base of the decor and enables to build up the upper part of the decor, for cichlid fish or reef aquariums. Even with fish moving the sand, the decor remains stable.

Set / small: for a surface of 35 x 45 cm.

Set / big: for a surface of 45 x 55 cm.

Higher decors are made on demand, either as side decor or central decor, when possible in 1 piece or, if very big, in several elements.

Autumn 2009, new decors in height 1 meter will soon be available.

With ceramic rocks:

Construction with 'ceramic rocks' is rather easy, but for a high decor you'll have to have a very stable base and careful construction, consolidated with silicone rubber. In Océanopolis, a very big reef wall has been made with these rocks, on a grid structure (aquarium / 60000 litres).
